Rabbi Wainer facilitating a High Holiday art program with Atiq: Jewish Maker Institute
Rabbi Wainer believes that there is a pathway for everyone to connect to their Judaism. While for younger students, this is often through a combination of formal Jewish experiences, like religious school or youth group and more information Jewish experiences, like Jewish summer camp, for many of our Lifelong Learners, this is through opportunities to learn, engage in dialogue, and create sacred moments together. Continuing to provide opportunities for online learning, in addition to in person learning, has allowed for greater participation in classes by a larger swath of the population.
Rabbi Wainer loves that teaching and learning can occur in so many places including sukkot, kitchens, dining room tables, conference rooms, libraries and so many other spaces! She also believes that learning and engagement takes place in many different forms. Rabbi Wainer has led outdoor High Holiday and Shabbat experiences on hiking trails, facilitated dynamic retreat programs at OSRUI, recreated an Adult B’nai Mitzvah program, created a year long exploration of immigration issues in America and has helped to bring in distinguished speakers from the NAACP, the Department of Justice, NASA and Haaretz newspaper. Rabbi Wainer has also continued to build on a strong relationship with local faith communities, where she has taught classes and delivered sermons. Rabbi Wainer also provides education to all conversion candidates at Congregation Etz Chaim.
